Can you buy all content with iTunes gift cards, including books?

Hi,

I'm most likely going to buy an iPad in the USA, and I really want to use iBooks so I'm going to get iTunes gift cards to put money on my american account. So my question is, can you buy everything with gift cards or are they limited to music and videos?
