I'm a new iPhone user as of the iP4 launch so this is probably a beaten question but the search I did only came up with very old results and failed to ask the second part of my question: If the answer is still no, what if you are quick enough to go into edit mode and delete the text before it finishes sending? Would that cancel it?

the only way i know of is to jailbreak and download bitesms as your main messaging app. there is an option to send a delayed text (3 seconds) and in the mean time you have the option of canceling, gl.

Quickly turn it off?

turning off the phone will not be fast enough.

Quickly turn it off?

If you were fast enough to do it in the first place, it'd just be set in the queue to be sent later. BiteSMS has a cancel text feature. You have up to 3 seconds after you hit "Send" to change your mind. And it's free in Cydia.

Yep...this is the only solution and a great one at that!

I don't have my phone jailbroken or intend to but it surprises me how many little things there are that should be there by default from Apple that you need to jailbreak for. Like: this, custom text noises, and scrolling folders.

Maybe if you quickly give your phone the deathgrip you will lose signal and not be able to get the text out. I'm surprised Jobs didn't use this as his excuse as to why the deathgrip is a feature and not a bug.

BiteSMS is not free - it's $8.99. It's a great program though and well worth the money.

It is free for 15 days and after that there are supposedly ads on the app. If you pay then it gets rid of the ads. I'm still in the 15 day window so I can't comment how obtrusive the ads are.

Count to 10 before sending that angry reply.
I usually just type really fast and wind up sending texts with weird auto-corrections. I'm not going to shut off that feature because it is still very useful.

A feature I have been dreaming of for a few years now.

I must be taking crazy pills or something because I swear Apple added the option to cancel texts in iOS 3.0.

Shows how much I text . . .

what i've done is quickly launch sbsettings and turn the phone off. haven't needed it many times but it worked.

You're doing it wrong. You should learn to be a more knowledgeable, efficient jailbreaker. The official version is free, non-cracked. It's $8.99 for the license with no ads. Just use it with ads. You only see the ads when you're in the settings changing around the configuration anyway.

Is that true? You really only see the ads when you go into the settings?
