My primary email address is Gmail, and as other Gmail users know, Google lets us use both “@gmail” and “@googlemail”. Super convenient to not spell “googlemail” every time, except that it causes certain tech platforms confusion.
And apparently, iCloud+ is one such platform.
I always say my email address is @gmail.com, this includes how I’ve set up Apple Mail — and naturally, that account has close to 20 years’ worth of emails.
When I’ve used the privacy feature to hide my email address, Apple forwards me the email just fine. But what I can’t do is reply. I get a bounce back from that, and Apple support reckons it’s because there’s a conflict with me saying it’s @gmail.com and the server saying it’s @googlemail.com
So my questions are:
1. Has anyone else encountered this and knows of a fix?
2. Do I really have to delete the account on Apple Mail, and add it as the @googlemail address?
Edit to add: Found this page, this is the exact issue I’m facing https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254928282
