Can you change iPhoto slideshow

I can't seem to figure how to remove and add slides to an existing iPhoto slide show. I would have thought you could just select a slide and click "cut" and likewise either drag or paste a new replacement slide in. But the relevant keys are inactive when I pull down the Edit menu. This means that to change one slide I have to revise the source album and create a whole new slide show. I'm sure there's a better way! What is it?

A slideshow is basically just an Album. You can delete from the Photos Menu, Delete from Album. You can drag photos from your Library/Events/Faces/Albums view to the slideshow in the Sidebar.
