Hey all,

Just got the iphone and I'm wondering if I can change the sounds when I recieve a new email or text. I would like to use my own sound clip, is this possible?

Steve Jobs hates other sounds!

TRUE. and so does Wall-E the robot.

but yes, jailbreaking will allow you to go to the system's library folder and replace the system user interfaces audio sounds with whatever you create or convert and replace them with.

I currently am using a super sexy computer voice for lock, unlock, and message receive sounds from Unreal 3 game files (Welcome! ... Goodbye! .. Message received! )

its stupid. when you are in a room with 3 persons and someone receives a mail, all the three checks their iphones.
blame on apple

LOL. its kind of true.

using garageband back in highschool I remember I recoded a pen click sound that I would recognize over other pen click sounds and saved it as an mp3 on my motorola phone and used that as my text tone because the vibrator was just loud. It never failed and nobody ever .. EVER even once realized it was my phone clicking, thats just a sound you would normally hear, lots of pens have their distinct clicky sounds and i memorized that one and consciously knew when I had a message and nobody else heard a thing.
