I use to write a lot here in the forums but most of the people have 500+ posts!!! So, that is making me think that:

1. All of you write at list 4 post a day.
2. You have been writting very often for at list 3 years.
3. You are hacking the site and adding posts.
4. You type anything just to get more posts.
5. I am not that Mac fan after all even I have an average of 1.5 posts a day.

What do you think?

mainly this site is pure fun for me....

many of my posts could probably be deemed useless in some aspects....but I really enjoy reading the discussions and jumping in whenever I can...

it's sort of like the tv show "Cheers"....it's nice to go where u see many of the same friendly faces (or avatars) all over the place....makes it kinda homey in a way...

and quite honestly I've made a few online friends from this site! :p

I'm new here!

In the first 16 days of my posting career in March I have made over 100 posts, which comes around 6.25 posts per day. I usually get bored easily, so I might as well post with the big boys at macrumors.

I also wanted to show off my older brother, and my younger cousin (he uses a PC), while posting about what I know and what I think would be best for Apple.

But, now, classwork and other things have caught up to me, so I post less often. I usually post like crazy during the weekends, and I refuse to post from the place where I get my education, because it is ALL PCs!

To boost my posts...

...I'll post what I did on the first thread you asked this on....

To remain polite, I'll leave out names, but there definitely posters who over do it with the lame posts. You know, three consecutive posts by the same person each one sentance long. Sound familiar to anyone? I think some posters do do it to raise their post value.

But then there are posters like Eyelikeart and AlphaTech who post a lot but consistantly add value to the conversations. These are the kind of posters you like to hear from.

In short, there is good and bad. But the reason I like it here so much is that its mostly good. Also, when you spend a lot of time on the forums it starts to seem like a community; you get to know people's style and posts and you enjoy waiting for responses from certain people. Its a great place to burn my ever so precious free time.

Books-schmooks. TV-Schmeevy.

I'll take MacRumors anyday.

I started coming here arounf MWSF time. about a week or so after I started posting, reallyjust one post, but it turned to more and more.

I like the mood here (most of the time) and chatting with everyone. I used to be really bored when I drank my coffee in the morning trying to think of what to do online while not being awake enough to put my socks on! Now I go here and drink my coffee. I read everything that interests me and if I can chime in in any way I will. Not to be stupid or raise my posts (though the new status game is fun). I'd like to have avatar because I know some people by their icons instead of having to read the names. MUCH faster. Also, its kinda like some people have faces with icons. I know exactly who Eyelikeart, mischief, krossfytr, etc are just from their icons.

SORRY TO ANYONE LEFT OUT ITS NOT PERSONAL JUST DONT WANT TO TYPE EVERYONE.

Its a lot of fun, and a good way to kill some time. Also, I've learned a bit since coming here regularly. It's like EYE said "t's nice to go where u see many of the same friendly faces (or avatars) all over the place....makes it kinda homey in a way... "

posts

Many of us have been here for a few years now and we post alot. If you look in the member page...there are hundreds of members. and most dont post anything. Dont worrie about how many posts you have or how many anyone else has. Just have fun. I have a job that alows me to goof off and post on Mac sites. Thats why I can post a few a day at times. Your right that some people do post some 2 word posts that really dont contibute to anything and at times it seems like people are just trying to hit a big number.

Also... several of us have been here for some big traffic times and flame wars. Some times one week, we could rack up like 100 posts just fighting about Apple PDA's, Whats up for MWSF, and stuff like that. Every once in a while a PC user will wonder in and start some fights too... thats always interesting. I try to keep my posts meaning full most of the time.

Like i said... dont worrie about how many posts you have or how many any one else has.

you know what I find weird? 2 weeks ago, there were MANY people with as manyy posts as I had and have now.. among the 250-300 range. Now, most of them already have 500 posts! GAAAH! (And I'm left behind, all alone..)

well actually I dont REALLY care.. I just love Macrumors so much.

The thing is that I have been posting for about 6 months now, and actually almost every day. I spend a lot of time in this site and I log at list 5 times a day and there are people that in 2 months have almos the same ammounts of posts that I have... Oh god! I

I think is like when I was in the middle of the fever of the chat rooms, when I used to spend 8+ hours! chatting, I was living a party just to go to my house and chat (of course that was when I was living in Orlando and there where nicest people in the net at that time).

I thought 1.5 post a day was abosesive and there is a guy with 6!!! :D of course he is a kid and he doesn't have to work. Is a bit mire productive been here that playing Nintendo. At list your typin gets better:) .

Lame posts.

The only reason those posters boosting their number of posts bug me is because I want a Avatar so dang bad!

I can't bring myself to post tiny, stupid posts yet I'm green with Avatar envy...

So frustrating! Must lash out!

u guys are on the target here...

all of u guys made great points here...

as of last night.....arn's going to be enforcing a new rule against padding posts in order to reach a mark....u know...the almighty avatar

we've seen a lot of quick posts lately and the numbers have been increasing at a much higher than normal rate for many of the newbies it seems...so for those who are in the spotlight (u know who u are)....if u get caught it's -100 posts on your count....so be careful...he he he...

but like evildead said..."Just have fun".....that's my main goal at this point...

btw....what do u mean "fighting over Apple PDAs?" who does that?! ;)

re: eyelikeart

Nicely said....

And... I cant seem to remember who was fighting over PDA's any more :)

That sounds like a good plan of Arn's to dock 100 posts off people that seem to be padding their count. I think others have suggested it before but maybe we can have a grading system that all the posters can vote with... we have the rating like mine: 6502 and then we can have a voter rating of like

full of crap
really a PC user
tons of crappy one word posts
spells at 3rd grade level (evildead)
... and nice ones too..

that might be fun... or it could just cause more problems for Arn... and we dont want that :)
