As you know the max theoretical throughput with TB2 is 2.0 GB/sec since TB uses PCI-e v2.0 4x lanes. So even though the cable delivers around 2.5 GB/sec, due to the interface the max you can read or write to a RAID is 2 GB/sec.
My question is, would it be possible to connect several SSD's through the different thunderbolt ports on the Mac Pro, and software RAID them, to get over that bandwidth limitation?
Since to get over the 2GB/sec you'd probably need at least 3 of the fastest SSD's, it'd be impossible to test this on an iMac or MBP I suppose.
