Hi ,

Can you technically install OS - 10.6 ( retail $29.99 ver. ) onto an external HD and boot from the external HD.

I know that you can`t with the grayed out restore disks that come with a Mac.

I have a Mini , and have already tried to install on an external HD , but could not and was told that with "gray disks" you could only install on the computer that the gray disks come with.

Is the $29.99 version of OS-10.6 a FULL Install disk or an upgrade disk ?

Many thanks :)

Yes, the $29 dollar version is a full install. I did a full clean install on my Mac Pro to another blank drive in the system just fine.
