I just installed Yosemite and it looks great.
However, they completely messed up the 'preview' app now... I annotate my notes using preview and the text box is acting really weird now (every time i hit enter, the text box moves up). Like...why would they do this?

Is there any way of downgrading the preview to the previous version?

I am not aware of a way to downgrade preview separately from the rest of the OS, but I totally agree with your statement that Apple basically ruined some of the most useful features of preview in Yosemite. :(
Right now, I cannot control anymore where the notes appear.
I guess I will have to look for a separate program now.

I just dragged a copy of Preview 7 from my Mavericks partition over to my Yosemite partition. Here's a picture of my dock showing Preview 7 and Preview 8 running side by side in Yosemite:

I didn't do a lot of testing, but basic functionality seems to be there for the older version under Yosemite.

updating to 10.10.2 seems to have broken Preview for me.
can anyone upload a copy of preview from 10.10 or 10.10.1?
