How did you get the key? I found that if you put the gold bar on the piece of wood, it'll stay propped, but then what? I've been at this forever.

I don't think it's a spoiler, but inivisitext just in case.

You can do two things with each item.
1) If you mouse over it and click on the (i) button, you get a big pop-up of the item, and some of the items can be manipulated in this way.
2) If you click anywhere else on an item, the item's icon gets a shaded box around it, and then the mouse carries the item around. You can then drag it onto the screen and click on the object with which you want to use it (if applicable), or for some devices just dragging them around the screen without any clicking fulfills their purpose. Items can also be used in the (i) info screen of another item. That is, you can use one item on part of another item.

The round key. I have a what looks like a test tube with something in it that I can not open.
I see the gold brick will keep the wood prop but that I can not do anything with it.

Help would be great

Found the wood, can't do anything though. Piece of gold only holds it up, even the light thing doesn't work :/
