can you get edge service on the iphone 3g?

you guys may say I'm cheap, but I don't have a lot of money, and I want an iphone 3g, but to be completely honest, I do not want to pay 30 dollars extra a month for the data plan. I would do 20 for just edge, but I didn't think that AT&T offered that for the 3g. Does anyone know for sure, or do you have any other suggestions about what I should do?

You can't just pay for the EDGE service, as it has been discontinued. The extra $10 anyway is used to expand at&t's 3G network.

The extra 10$ when you have full 3g is well worth it. Egde sucks compared to it. But i do think you can just get edge only if u have orginal iphone.

If $10 is going to break the bank, I suggest you really can't afford the phone.

Yeah i agree, without 3g why bother owning a 3g? the only real noticeable difference is GPS witch i haven't used on edge. Just buy a used original.
