Hi there

just wanted to know if My insurance company is able to distinguish the model of my iPhone with just the imei number or do I need to specify the type of iPhone to them?

Thanks in advance!

IMEI is what tells AT&T what phone you have... Not sure how your insurance can handle that

I would think you would want to give everything you can to identify your iPhone, b/c it sounds like you are trying to pull a fast one by giving the insurance company a different IMEI or JUST the IMEI.....:eek::eek:

Yeah, sounds kind of shady to me. In fact, it's so shady, he even left the y off his user name.

If that's what he OP is trying to do, let him do it then. He'll know it's a bad thing to do when his insurance company comes after him for fraud.

Yes, insurers can verify your phone details, and they do.

Wow, didn't expect this many replies. I have an iPhone 3g s and I just wanted to make sure that the insurance company knew that as they only asked me what size it was (8, 16, or 32gb) and not for the model, so I was a bit uncertain; I would hate to recieve the old model as a replacement should something happen to mine. I've emailed them again nevertheless to clairify and everything is fine. Just thought maybe I'd get a faster answer here.

Too many assumptions here it seems, I guess it's understandable though.

Thanks for the help.
