So while cleaning out our main desk here where I work (baylor university's media center) I stumbled upon two things sporting an apple logo. Being the machead I am, I could not find it in myself to throw them away without knowing their history. So, anybody know the story behind this seemingly useless magnifying glass and case embossed with the :apple: we all know and love?

Looks like some amalgamation of a pair of scissors, one of those pre cut tape dispensers, and a cheese grater. Of course this is pulled of with Apple's great industrial design style.
:D:cool:

No great mystery... Anyone that troubleshoots/repairs computers would find a handheld illuminated magnifying glass a very useful tool to have in their toolkit.

Or it's an attachment for a Quicktake 100. :p

What does the attachment do, exactly?

It attaches. Maybe even to a Quicktake 100, which would make sense, since it is a Quicktake 100 attachment. Plus, it has a cool :apple: logo.

What else could be important?
:D

I used to have a Quicktake 100, although never this attachment. But my understanding is that it works as a sort of primitive zoom for the lens, which normally has a fixed magnification. It just clips on to the front.

Yeah, they could put it right next to the officially branded "case removal tool" for the Mini. The guys at the local reseller showed me their official Apple Case Removal Tool. It was a putty knife with an Apple logo.
