I'm curious if you can install windows 7 or any windows for that matter on the hdd installed in the optibay and boot via bootcamp?

Has anyone tried this and if so does it work well?

I decided to keep my 15" mbp as today is the last day for the exchange so I'm going to go ahead and install the optibay and stick my 500gb hitachi drive in there.

Does anyone know how much more battery life is depleted installing a harddrive in the optibay as well?

yes u can... I did, but deleted later and desided to have 20GB of "apple"ssd instead, considering I have other PCs for win
as for the battery I dont know.. mounted the optibay the first day, but I get almost the 7 hours claimed if im not doing anything "heavy"

Yes you can, just insert the install DVD at start up (well into your external drive) and then when it comes to choosing an installation disk, choose the optibay drive.
