I have a iPhone 4 4.2.1 unlocked with a Gevey sim for use for T-Mobile. Is it safe to jailbreak it with greenpoison or with any recommended jailbreak program?

Please and Thanks for the responses.

Bump for some help please. I've read that you need to preserve your baseband for unlocking but what if it's already unlocked via a gevey sim? Is it safe to jailbreak and if so any program?

You still need to preserve your baseband.
If you update to stock 5.1.1 then your gevey will NOT be able to unlock your iphone any longer. A gevey unlock is not a permanent unlock but one that unlocks certain baseband versions.

What if I just keep it at 4.2.1 and not update? Do I still need to find a way to preserve the baseband before I jailbreak it?

Okay thanks a bunch! Now I can jailbreak with greenpoison 4.2.1 version without worrying.
