Have to order online for in-store pickup, and if it's not available in your store you can't "pre-order" it. You will then have to have it shipped.
If they do have it in stock, just order it right from the Apple store on their computers and wait a bit haha
That's what I did yesterday, and I cancelled my online order that was still processing for the last two days. I waited in the mall for 3 hours though, because their systems were down yesterday, and they aren't selling them off the shelves....they are only selling through online pickups.
You should have seen the line at the store when the systems went down. They had to go old school and handwrite the items down.
I tried to get a smart cover out of it, but was snubbed. I already bought one on Tuesday, but figured I could get $40 back for the one I bought.
Doesn't hurt to ask, they wasted two hours of my time. If you look around these forums there are many people who have gotten them. I spent about $700 on a tablet. What's a cover, a piece of material that probably cost $0.75 to make?
Why don't you just reserve it for pick-up and go to the store to get it? I actually find that it's more organized for apple to use this reservation system.
