Can you move data from iOS 7 to iOS 6?

Hey all,

I have a bit of a conundrum. I currently have one iPhone with iOS 7 beta 6 (haven't downloaded GM yet). On this phone, I shattered the screen, killed the battery and the camera's, etc, so the phone is dead. I ordered a replacement phone through Asurion, forgetting that the new phone will come with iOS 6.

Is there any way to restore all data from my backup of my current phone running iOS 7 beta 6 to the new phone running iOS 6.1.3?

Actually I'm not sure that you can restore to any version that's not the version you backed up from (in either direction). I'm not sure how stringent it is, But it's possible that for instance you wouldn't be able to restore 6.1.3 to a device running 6.1.2

I was worried about this too, but not for necessarily the same reason. Even if I upgraded my new phone to iOS 7 GM, I don't know that I could restore the data from my old phone, due to the different UDID's of the phone. Any thoughts on this? Surely this has been a problem with people updating their phones in the past, right?

UDID shouldn't have anything to do with iCloud backups, they are basically based on the Apple ID that is used.

So, as long as both phones have iOS 7 GM, I should be able to move all my data to the new phone using restore from iCloud backup?

Not even sure what that means.

If you update to iOS 7, make a backup, you can not downgrade to iOS 6 and restore the backup. It won't work.

That should be the case (or pretty much any iOS 7 betas as well).
