Can you only buy Iphone 5 with Credit/Debit Card ?

I know in the past apple required you to do so....but can you buy some of it with cash or like a visa gift card i have

I dont get it. Why cant you use regural currency like with every other business in the world?

If you pay with cash they turn it into a gift card then swipe that. I don't know why. Could be for security reasons.
