My teacher has this program for physics to analyze videos.. On this old os 9 mac.. he had a bunch of old stock footage videos.. they werent .mov but they were able to be played in quicktime when i selected it. There was no file extention, it said document.
I wanted to get it into the program on his laptop so i figured id save it as an avi... but there was no save as option in quicktime.. i put it on my thumbdrive.. opened thm in quicktime on the laptop and my mac at home.. but they wouldnt play..
So any suggestions? Where can i post it so you guys can try and get it..

You should do Cmd-I within Quicktime on the Mac at school to see what codec it uses.
And then download and install said Quicktime codec plugin on your home Mac.

Hopefully it's not Indeo video, cause then you're screwed.

Alternately, you can try and view the movie with VLC or MPlayer.

I tried vlc.. with no luck.. both in school.. i ran it off of my thumb drive.. and at home..

The files must have an extension. Figure out what that is and we can help otherwise our guess is as good as yours. Get info on the files and look at the Name and Extension portion.
