My apologies in advance for asking this crazy question.....I have a great home theater setup in my family room which is All Black.....it includes a 60 inch Sony Bravia connected to a Onkyo Receiver with Subwoofer and speakers and Directv,Samsung 3D blu Ray, Apple TV 3rd generation, Roku.....I want to buy a used 2011 Mac Mini and connect it to my Onkyo receiver and use it for web browsing and watching international movies on websites which do not have Apps on Roku or Apple Tv and not available on netflix.......

What is putting me off is the aluminium finish of the Mac Mini....it is going to stand out in my All Black media setup....

I do not want to buy a Windows or Samsung chrome box.....

Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.....i have never painted in my life and have no clue about spray painting........Will black spray paint even stick to an aluminium finish and even if it sticks will it block the bluetooth signals.......i wish they make a Mac Mini in black like the Apple Tv box....

you would have to prime it first then paint it. but I would take the outer casing off the unit before doing so , which I believe will be your biggest obstacle .

Do a Startpage search on how to paint aluminum; you should get an answer to your question.

lovememac.....that was a great link u sent....u solved my problem....thank u so much.....TWO2SEVEN, i saw the colorware website.....Wow.....Wow.....i was salivating at that website but way way out of my price range.....

I've been wanting to order a black carbon fiber skin for my mini as well. SWEET20 I think is still a valid code for icarbons.com.

Do a search for Mac Mini Skins, I got quite a few hits with prices in the $15-$30 range. I bet you pay $5 for primer, another $5 on paint, plus another $5 on supplies. Add in time to tape, or disassemble, then paint, and a skin is probably cheaper overall, and a lot simpler.

And I would think a carbon fiber skin will look a lot nicer also.

Buy the Mac Mini, install it, look at it, and then ask the question again.
This is not a black home theater box, this is a genuinely designed piece of art, braw.

I agree, it's a work of art, but when it's with all black A/V components it stands out too much.

You may want to consider whether a paint coating will have any effect on the heat dissipation of your Mini.

Same here. Their stuff looks awesome, but it's way too expensive (for me at least).

May I suggest a heat resistant vinyl wrap?

It won't affect the cooling, wont damage it, and is completely removable :)
