I would love to be able to use AVP but have all the audio pass through to my home theater's receiver. As I have a proper 5.1 setup for speakers that I'd like to use. Is this possible?

If you have a bluetooth receiver it should work fine. I'm not sure if the 5.1 channels will all transfer over correctly though. I say just get AirPod Pros. Get a high quality bluetooth receiver so there is no latency issues.

I see your request 212rikanmofo and I understand it. I had the same problem, when I had to give up my proper 5.1 setup with dedicated channels, because I moved...

This virtual surround sound still does not convice me, but I started to live with it. I really was astonished, what a good soundbar can do, what the virtual channels in the AVP or - as SunMac writes - AirPod Pro can achieve.

I accepted it as a step back like uncompressed audio > HQ compressed audio...

BTW: As in my case - a "5.1 setup" is not really state ot the art these days. I gave it up for that reason as well.
