While we're here, what does "CAUTION: For use with information technology equipment" mean? It seems like putting "CAUTION: For holding food" on a dinner plate; I honestly don't know why that requires caution.

Very clear which is the fake
Of course it is. Geez, are the only 2 people who have a sense of humor me and the OP?!?!?!?!?

It is HYSTERICAL that the Chinese manufacturer put Designed by California, lol! They obviously didn't have any clue at all what those words meant.

Just poor English skills.

The moral of this story is to buy your charger from Apple.

Because if someone were to use it to try and charge the wrong thing then it could draw too much current, get hot and start a fire. At least that is what the stupid lawyers who made them put that on there think.

Because if someone were to use it to try and charge the wrong thing [...]

... then the plug wouldn't fit!

I guess you're right about lawyers! I'd have thought that there should be an "only" in there too, but I'm not a lawyer so what do I know? :p

Don't forget that most of their fakes will be sold in countries like China, where few people will notice something like "Designed by California". Try comparing at a glance some differing Chinese text!

I've seen some laughable fakes in my time-- mostly things from alibaba or aliexpress, but sometimes they make things SO close to real- but mess up something simple like what OP pointed out.

Foolish scoundrels.

I believe you mean "infor mation technology equipment" lol

Hit and miss. Some will work great, some will catch on fire.

Jeez, you should be in sales. You'd catch the big fish with that line. LOL

Funny part is I just got back from 2 weeks in Bangkok, where they sell these. They have "copy" which are these, the obviously fake ones... then they have "premium charger" which are these but a little less fake looking... and then they sell "upgraded" which are this same design which they say will charge at 2.1 amp but use the same body\style. When you touch them, they feel like nothing is inside, which scares me. Apple doesn't add weight for the sake of adding weight.

Tho it's amazing in Asia how many people go out to the markets and buy these and plug their phones worth hundreds of dollars into them.
