I was able to 'move' my .Mac account from MobileMe to iCloud. It works the same whether you use @me or @mac.

Click to expand... If the account is active, yes. Once you've let it become an inactive account for long enough, you lose the @mac.com address. jW

How can I regain the email box? I really like the mac.com email address...

If you could you would be prompted when you sign/setup but if not, that address is now gone.
