I'm a bit confused about which monitors are compatible with the MacBook given the limitations of USB-C.

Please can you recommend me a monitor which works well for you, and let me know which adaptor you use to connect?

I'd be keen to use something like this (28 inch, UltraHD) if possible:

Thanks!
Yes, that will work. It's not the best quality display, but it'll work fine at 4K resolution @ 30Hz unless you want to patch your rMB to run 60Hz.

Thanks. That's great! I'm still trying to decide whether to go for the MacBook Air instead due to its extra power by it seems that usb-c is not a deal breaker.

4K at 30Hz doesn't look great IMO.
I'd have the Air given the choice. It's hardly a brick.
Have you even tried it at 30Hz? Depends on what you do. I have both 2015 MBP @ 60Hz and 2016 rMB @ 30Hz, but very little noticeable difference between the two frequencies.

You did not mention what model MacBook you have. I have one with a mini monitor port and use an Apple adapter. I use Dell U2412 (U2212 is nice too). These 2 Ultrasharp models have the same Phillips screen inside as the Apple monitors of the same size PLUS have a non-glare layer. I do not notice any quality loss with the non-glare.
Hope this helps.
