Can you remove your credit card info & replace it w/ a $10 iTunes gift card?

I have a nephew who needs one of my apps but I don't trust him not to purchase something if he has my apple id and password.

Is there a way that if I already have a credit card on file in iTunes that I can simply erase/replace it with a $10 iTunes gift card?

This why I wouldn't have to worry about my nephew going overboard and can let him download my previously purchased apps without having to worry he is going to buy some $100 app by mistake.

Is this possible? Usually Apple always wants a credit card on file to even download free apps

Yes, I believe you can just use a gift card without having a real CC on file with itunes.

Yes you can. I did this on my iTunes account after the Mat Honan hack.

you just add the itunes card on the redeem part. it will take mney away from it before the debit card
