Can you replace the HDD on a 2012 iMac and the fans don't go nuts?

I know the 2010 models have quirks ( I have one ) and the 2011 models were even trickier but what about the 2012 models? Do you have to put in an Apple firmware HDD in a 2012 iMac to stop the fans spinning up?
