Can you restore from older backup, then revert to newer backup again?

I guess the title says it all. I'm trying to recover some lost info, but want to keep all the things I currently have on my phone - call logs, text messages etc.

If I revert to an old backup, will the new one still be an available option?

Also, I have made several backups over the past few weeks, but iTunes shows just one, is this right? Or am I able to access each individual backup somehow?

When you backup it just overwrites the other one, in most cases I think. If you restore from a older backup, your new ones should still be there, I don't see why it would be a problem

That's assuming you're doing 2.2.1, if you backup with 3.0 and overwrite your new one and then downgrade to 2.2.1 and try to restore with the 3.0 backup, it's not compatible... thankfully, it still worked for me... Probably because I wasn't using it that long due to I couldn't use a couple things because it wasn't compatible
