I have a Macbook pro which harddrive is getting full. I want to move my itune library to my network drive and make some room on my laptop. I have an Airport Extreme and a western digital element 2tb partioned so I can have a time machine on one and crap on the second part. Can some one help me out? Thanks

iTunes can't reside on anywhere other than the boot drive. Its library, though, can. Here's how to set it up:

  1. Quit iTunes, if it's running.
  2. Copy your iTunes Music folder to the external drive
  3. Open iTunes, hold down Option
  4. It'll ask you for a library location. Pick your external.
  5. iTunes will update itself, then everything SHOULD work.

Note also that if your external drive ever cannot be found when you try to launch iTunes, it will create a new library in the default location.
