Can you send HDR videos via iMessage?

I did many tests, seems Apple automatically convert HDR videos to SDR when you iMessage them, even if you know the recipient has a capable iPhone to display HDR videos.

So how is your experience so far?
 
iMessage will almost always shrink and compress a video down to a smaller size during the send. 1080P videos (non HD) rarely will stay that size and if the sender is sending it via a crap cellular connection, the recipient might receive a postage stamp size copy on their end. I've received 135pixel videos from friends who shot too long of a clip.

So the answer to your question is, for practical intents and purposes — Don't expect the end user to get it
