Can you stack employee and student deals?

If I have my friend who works at a Mac store buy me a Mac / iPod (via the employee discount), will I still be eligable for the $179 rebate rate? We're both students. I guess the question is: do discounts stack? Or, more aptly: how strict is the Back to School rebate offer?

I didn't think they were stackable- I really don't know though
