I believe I have not gone to KFC for several years or perhaps over a decade now or maybe my last visit was in the 90's.

Back in days, I used to be able to pick and choose chicken pieces at KFC when buying a bucket of fried chicken for I prefer drumsticks, thighs, and wings. I really am not a fan of white breast meat.

Recently, I went to KFC and ordered a bucket of fried chicken with no white meat and the cashier told me I cannot do that. So, I asked the cashier to ask manager and the manager okayed but he too had a strange look on his face as if it is an unusual or a wrong request.

Is it wrong to ask such a request at KFC nowadays?

They can do this but prefer not to do so because it leaves them with an odd assortment. I remember they used to have it posted that there would be an extra charge for all white or all dark. I don't know if they still have that posted in the drive through or not.

I quit going to Popeyes because sometimes I could get all white but usually they would say no.

I am used to always ordering all dark wherever I go and most places have it on the menu that way; all white is usually extra though.

I just went to KFC for take our tonight. Got a 3 piece white meat extra crispy with two sides and no drink. Cost me $10 and change. What a rip off! I'll probably not go there again. BTW, I'm a guy that cooks 95% at home for way less money, and way healthier too. I was just in the mood for KFC which I haven't had in years... Go figure! Edit: I have to say it did taste real good...`

But was it finger likin' good?

Popeyes is better... that being said, I thought you could order just dark meat? Haven't been to KFC in years

I used to work at KFC (20 years ago) and they're just being grumpy if they won't give you all dark. Since the meals are divided dark/light, it doesn't mess them up to give you all of one in the bucket. If it's late tho, it may mean they have to do another fry and might end up with extra chicken. We never cared about that, as employees took home the leftovers, but I'm not sure they still let them do that.
