One of the main reasons I haven't got an Apple Watch yet is because I think it will annoy me too much. The constant tapping on the wrist.

I'd want it for very basic things only, like texts from family members.

For example, one of my friends is notorious for spamming my phone with text messages. Instead of sending one message, he breaks it up into 6 shorter ones. The constant buzzing from that on my wrist would drive me insane.

Are there strong filter settings that would allow me to make my message alerts to the Watch person specific? I've been searching around but couldn't find any info.

Right. I know you can customize notification alerts. What I want to do specifically relates to the Messages app.

I don't want to be alerted on my Apple Watch if my friend adam sends me a text. But if my wife does, I want my Watch to show that.

As far as I know that's not possible on the phone so I'm assuming it's not possible on the watch.
