Can you swipe up from the bottom while in safari to get to Control Center? [Landscape

In Safari, I can swipe up from the bottom in landscape mode to see the little arrow that pops up that I thought I could then touch and move upwards to pull up the notification overlay, but nothing comes up.

If I pull down from the top, I see the same tab, and I can continue to pull down on it to see notifications, etc.

Is this normal that you cannot pull up from the bottom?

Swiping from the bottom opens Control Centre as normal on my 6 with 8.0.2. Works in both portrait and landscape.

I don't know if its because of the leather case, but its pretty hard to get it from the bottom.

It's probably the case. It works fine for me (I'm using the silicone one).

Yeah, the leather one wraps around the phone's front face a bit more... thats gotta be it.
