iPhone 13 Pro Max Can you take the iPhone to the apple store and somehow get the trade in gift card refunded?

I didn't realize they are giving us gift cards for the trade in. Is it possible to ask the Apple store to refund the iPhone and recharge it to your same credit card and use the balance on the gift card?

No, probably a refund then reorder. Sucks don't it.

Ill have to check. They have done this kind of thing before for me. That may have changed. Ill use the money eventually but would rather have it sitting in my bank account.

There are two ways to do a trade in. If you select trade in when you order your new device, then you should get a refund on whatever payment method you used when you ordered the device. Although if you did carrier financing, I’m not quite sure how that would work. You can also just do a stand alone trade in that’s not attached to a device purchase. The stand alone trade in will result in a gift card. It sounds like for some reason your trade was processed as a stand alone trade in instead of with your device purchase. It’s probably worth calling apple to see if they can do anything, but at this point it might be too late to change it.

Yes I purchased online release day and used my CC. They sent the phone and the trade in kit. They just got my trade in and said a $790 giftcard will be sent.

I called Apple and he got a supervisor and they confirmed it will go back to my original CC. They don't know why the app says I'm getting a gift card.

In previous years I’ve always gotten a refund on the original payment minus 40 dollars which was sent in the form of a gift card. Hopefully this year they simply refund the entire amount but I’m not banking on it. It’s not the biggest deal since eventually I’ll purchase something from apple again (like next years iphone) but I generally purchase accessories and stuff on Amazon and not from Apple, so that 40 dollar gift card sits around.

It’s a small but shady practice imo that forces you to purchase something from apple rather than just getting the full trade in amount returned to use as you please

I used my Apple card to pay for my 12 PM last year and they refunded it back to it when I turned my 11 PM in. I did get some bonus money and Apple gave it to me via itune credits. This year I again used the Apple card and got a refund back into it.
