So I am coming to the conclusion that there is no way to get out of the T-Mobile contract before May 2013 without an ETF.

I have 3 phones on a family plan with them and was wondering if I could take one of the phone numbers on the family plan and switch it to ATT, Verizon or Sprint without a ETF or other penalty. AND just continue to pay the T-Mobile bill like usual till May 2013?

Just wondering if they hold the phone number hostage as well.... even if you are still willing to pay the overall bill.

I'm fairly certain they'll charge that one line for an ETF.

Might want to call T-Mobile to verify it, though.

If I were you call T-Mobile CS and tell them you're going to port the number to ATT, once the number is ported, get a dumb phone and add that as a replacement with new number on T-Mobile. That way they have history and documentation that your not bailing out on your contract.

Anything is possible. It depends of the CS you get that's willing to help you through the motion.
