can you teach siri pronunciation of names?

Siri is a girl with attitude. I highly doubt she'll agree to change from the conventional pronunciation, which is mar-sha.

You could try though, but it'll take a lot of begging.

I don't think it's possible with Siri 1.0.

Although Siri 1.1 could bring such possibility.

There are several reports around this forum of Siri altering pronunciation over time but how it occurs is unknown at this point.

I have a friend, "Raquel", with whom I text and email.

The first few times Siri referred to her as something that sounded almost like "Raccoon". After a few hours, the pronunciation was correct, although I don't know how "she" did it. Maybe she was jealous at first until she realized I was communicating about work issues?
