I have a new 16" BTO system on order. Can I do a trade in after I receive the new system? Or is tied to the new systems order number? I hate to mess with the new order while the new system is being built.

Can you trade in to Apple after receiving BTO?

I don't think so for your order, since it can't be done in the store for computers. You can do the trade in at any time, but you only get a gift card if it is after. Maybe call apple and see if they can apply it to your order.
