Can you transfer purchases to another computer, download a new app and sync?

I'm at work, have no wifi, but want to download an app over 20mb, I have itunes on this computer, if I transfer purchases, can I sync only apps this way without losing data in the apps?

i did that. it completly erases the saved data. For example, tap tap revenge, the songs that i unlocked, i have to unlock them again
