I am having all sorts of issues today.
first, I had to get a new main internal drive for my Power Mac. I figured it would be quick and easy. Buy new drive, drop new drive in, restore from time machine. However, it will not recognize the drive and I cannot install a system from the disc. It keeps erroring out. I reformatted the drive as well.

I also purchased a usb/ethernet 1TB drive. I attached it to my laptop and did the initial time machine set up and back up over USB. I then moved the drive to my network and dropped it into the network by just plugging it into an extra ethernet jack on the back of my router.
Now, I can't "see" it from my laptop.

I am really stuck. I can't figure either out.
 
If you're using a drive connected to an ethernet (NAS) you need to hit command+k to connect to server and connect to the drive name/ip depending upon how you've set it up.
