Most drives will have drivers for OS X or won't need them at all.

As a basic rule, if you plug it in it will work automatically or it won't.

Google the drive you want to see if it's Mac compatible. Chances are, if it doesn't need proprietary drivers, it will work fine.
 
I have a $30 Rosewill DVD burner from Egghead that works fine, no drivers needed. Not as nice looking as the Apple drive, but it works fine and is a lot cheaper. I also used a Asus DVD burner from Amazon without any problems.
