"Can you use the 15inch mbp os x install disk on a 13inch mbp"

Question:
Can you get both computers side-by-side?

If so, try this:
- Have both MBP's side-by-side. Have a firewire cable handy (but not connected)
- Next, boot the 13-inch. As soon as you hear the startup sound, hold down the "T" key and KEEP HOLDING IT DOWN
- The 13-inch should start in "Target Disk Mode" with a "floating firewire icon" displayed onscreen.
- Now, connect the firewire cable between them and boot up the 15" from the boot DVD. To do this, have the boot DVD "halfway inserted" into the DVD drive slot. AS SOON AS YOU PRESS THE POWER BUTTON, push the DVD all the way in and hold down the "C" key and KEEP HOLDING IT DOWN
- Once booted from the DVD, run the installer, BUT, when it comes time to choose where you want to install, "aim it" at the drive on the 13" (which should be visible because it's mounted in firewire target mode).
- Let the installer do its thing (also, you will have to determine whether you want to erase the 13-inch's drive first, or, install with the old software still there).
- Once the installer has finished, power everything down and disconnect the two computers.
- Reboot the 13"? Do you get a "good boot"?
- If so, immediately create a new account on the 13", and then immediately go to software update and download the necessary system software updates.

If you can "get that far", software update will install any correct (and possibly "missing") items for the 13-inch, and you should be "in business".

If you try this and it works, please post a followup and let us know.
