Can you walk me through the whole new-domain thing?

I have a New Google Sites website that needs to display a custom domain instead of a google.sites domain. I just purchased the domain I want directly from Google Domains. Do I need to sign up with a 3rd-party web host at this point, or has G Suite finally started allowing the use of custom domains in New Google Sites with Google Drive as storage?

Basically I have the site i want and the domain I want, both through the same provider, but they're still in 2 separate pieces right now.
