just curious, the folks in the apple store were using a small keyboard that looked like the wireless version but it was wired in via the USB port.

Can you simply get a suitable connector and wire it ?

note: the reason being for example if batteries run out, OR playing games and not wanting a loss in response time.

thanks

EDIT: IGNORE , now realized the consumer available bluetooth keyboards dont have a USB port

are you sure its wired and not just tied down to stop the tea leafs walking off with them they do fit in a poacher pocket :D

there is also the Mobee battery bars, they offer both a conductive charging one and a plug in micro USB style. You missed a great deal yesterday on the conductive model. I have never seen them in use at my local Apple Stores.

?
There was this for a while, but Apple does not seem to offer them anymore.

it may well of been that, its the keyboard the Genius were using and definitely not the security wire.
the cable was also going into the USB port so it was not hard wired, and in that very statement I just realized my error, I dont think the wireless keyboards have a USB port do they?

No, the bluetooth keyboard does not have any ports whatsoever.

That's exactly why i ordered the wired keyboard (the one with the num pad) with my 27" imac. It's 1 extra white wire but then you dont have to worry about it again.

It's such a pain to deal with those battery replacements and not very green, i had the wireless keyboard with mac mini and had to replace the battery quite often.

Wanted a wired trackpad too but they dont have it, will see how the battery goes if i have to replace it every month or two then i will get one of those wired addon as well.

Hate replacing batteries.

Thanks for posting. That's what I was referring to. One thing I like about that model is that it has the fn button in the bottom left like the MacBooks, not in the middle-upper-right like on the full size wired desktop keyboard (which I have).

but why go through all that trouble, wouldnt just get the wired version be easier.

WHY?
I like the freedom of wireless. (Take the keyboard anywhere)
I hate replacing batteries.
I hate when the battery dies right in the middle of something

The Mobee chargers can be put out of sight, all I have to do is remember to "DOCK" the mouse (or keyboard when I get one) once and awhile and the batteries will always be charged. No running around the house looking for spare batteries, no having to take the batteries out and charge them. no having multiple sets of rechargeable batteries and always remembering to keep one set charged. No fighting with the Teenage Daughter about where the heck all the batteries are.

Terrible. Just Terrible. And these days girls play xbox and the like too... so AAs are a hot commodity in estrogen filled houses as well.

Nearly everything has a built-in rechargeable battery pack built in. Very little use for AA Batteries anymore (or just buy the freaking power charge pack for $10 for the Xbox).

Thankfully they take AA and not D batteries.

AM I RIGHT GUYS?!?

:eek: That was just......:eek: Yeah!

between Her Camera, portable Radio/Wireless speaker POS, and the Micro RC Heli's she chews threw AA batteries like crazy, She has rechargeable batteries "somewhere"

Were talking about a 16year old girl here... Not your mom....
