Mine is a 2020 air with i5, 8g ram. The fan seems to always kick in after some pics/gif loading on Tumblr pages. The safari then suggests closing the page. Does anyone has this issue?

I used Tumblr some years ago when it was still popular. I used to get a lot of fan noise when viewing 100s of gifs on Tumblr. So no I don't think you're alone.

Other web browser such as Firefox and Chrome have extensions to stop GIFs from automatically animating.

You can download turbo boost switcher for macOS (free) which will allow you to turn this on when you are doing light tasks which will eliminate fan noise (and increase battery life). Only way around the intel chips running hot I am afraid.
