Canadian Apple Stores might be selling UNLOCKED iPhone 5 after all?

Just spoke with the store manager and the business manager at the St Catherine Montreal store. They both confirmed that they will only be selling contract phones in the store, and all stores in Canada.
 
I'm guessing that Apple is trying to thwart gray market sales. Releasing the unlocked iPhone 4 weeks later in the US is part of that strategy. If they offered it for sale unlocked in Canadian retail stores, then scalpers would simply line up in Toronto and Montreal instead of New York. It wouldn't surprise me if at some point in the future they do allow unlocked sales in retail stores. Just not until after the initial rush has subsided.
