Hi everyone. I have a question in regards to multiple citizenships.

At the moment, I'm a citizen of both Australia and New Zealand. In the next 5 or 6 years, I'll probably be considering moving to Canada for a while. I was wondering, is anyone here originally an Australian citizen, and then gained dual citizenship as a Canadian and Australian citizen? Just wondering if thats possible, even if I lose my NZ citizenship.

Thanks!

I don't know about Canada specifically, but I know quite a few Australians (including Mumsy-dear) with dual-citizenship. It's certainly possible from our end, so long as Canada's cool about it. Of course, they might test you on your spelling before letting you in.

And you can have a dual citizen from Canada's end, too. You're in the clear!!

Canadian Citizen .... born & raised here.

My father had to renew his Jamaican citizenship - even though born there, had lived in Canada over 30years, and can confirm DUAL or multi citizenship is possible.

Check with your local Canadian Consolate or search canada site ...

ending in .gov.ca

As far as I've seen, Australian english is the closest in spelling/grammar to Canadian english we have. I use it Word, because Word doesn't seem to handle Canadian english.

Our citizenships aren't terribly strict as far as I've seen, we're pretty happy to have you most of the time.

Got plaid PJs? You're gonna need them.

Seriously though? I really want one.

I want to live in Canada! Maybe I can get lamina or MarkColette to marry me, at least for a few years (and only for immigration purposes of course ;)).

Hahah. Those replies made me laugh. Ahh thats graet. It's years away but I thought I might as well take a look at it now. Planning on doing accountacny next year and then getting my CA. Then of course moving to Canada. The future looks very exciting!
