I'm not sure my fellow canadians have checked out the new iphone pricing.

The 16gb starts at $899. I hope im not the only one who finds that price insanely high.

Granted the canadian dollar is trash right now but $649usd is only about $860 cad.

Apple is making a premium because of our dollar. Apple Canada is getting more and more expensive.

Damn...

Any thoughts?

There are higher labor costs and taxes in Canada so the extra bit compensates for that.

I think Apple is also anticipating the Canadian dollar will continue to get worse. All products have gone up in prices and it is just ridiculous what they cost now. I'm glad I bought my MacBook, iPad and iPhone a year ago before they started raising the prices. I'm seriously considering not buying the new Apple TV. I just can't justify spending $200 Canadian dollars on it. I'm guessing it's going to be somewhere around that price.

Prices went up in March and now again. Yet, the contract pricing remains the same. Hmm.

  • 64GB – $1029
  • 128GB – $1159
iPhone 6s Plus
  • 16GB – $1029
  • 64GB – $1159
  • 128GB – $1289
Last year:

iPhone 6
$749 (CAD) for the 16GB model
$859 (CAD) for the 64GB model
$969 (CAD) for the 128GB model

iPhone 6 Plus
$859 (CAD) for the 16GB model

Running the Canadian operation and stores costs them more than in the U.S. Yeah the still make huge cash, but they don't want to lose money on each phone sold here.

I would like to point out that everything else Apple makes is cheaper in Canada. The rMB at 1299$ is 1549CAD, normally would cost ~1725CAD.

Its ridiculous how these companies keep thinking they can raise prices just because of the Canadian dollar. Price is set. When the USD was on par with CDN the price was still 100$ higher. Apple in Canada operates under Apple Canada and keep the prices constant. Not like we just started making 30% more money.

I agree. It's ******** for us Canadians since we receive the same amounts of money. The CAD has decreased, meaning companies increase the prices to be able to receive the same amount of money in USD. It's only useful when we live in US or we get paid in USD.

It sucks for us, but don't blame Apple - blame the weak dollar.

It is still a little more expensive than what we'd pay if it was 100% true to the exchange rate but its not far off

Our dollar is really weak right now
