Hey all, I live in Canada but I am traveling to the states tomorrow.

Now, I know that using data, or text, or phone costs money, but if I just have the phone on to say, listen to music, or take pictures, will I still be charged for roaming on the AT&T network??? Thanks in advance!

As long as you don't have the Roaming Data setting switched on (its off by default) and don't make or answer any calls and don't send or receive any SMS messages- you will be fine!

I would add that you can also use WiFi here wherever it is available and you will not incur roaming charges from AT&T. I do this in Europe all the time.

Of course you may have to pay for the WiFi to whomever is providing that service. But you already know that.

The place I am staying does have wi-fi so thats really good to know ! Thanks a lot the both of you!
