I did a search and couldn't find a "right answer".

I'm not eligible for an upgrade until Oct 2010. It cost 120 to cancel my plan. The ATT guy said it would be a better option for me to add a new line?! But I don't see how that's cheaper. It would just be keeping my number and now I have two lines and would have to cancel one anyways. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Also can't I just do an early upgrade and pay that medium price? Just needed to figure this out because I just sold my 3GS for 400.

Thank you,

Sorry I can't help with your main question and you may already know this but the low end iPhone will run you (more than likely) $399. This is what mine is going to be set at as well.

EDIT: I guess I can help out... When you add a line you wouldn't have to get a number change and you could cancel the new one and keep the iPhone for the old plan BUT, sim cards would not fit first of all and second, if the new line has that new $325 fee it makes things even worse. So I guess cancelling the current one would be easier, only downfall is the number change plus a $120 cancellation fee. I guess total your looking at $320 if you cancel. I'd say just pay the $400 for the new one.

Not necessarily. If he is up for a partial upgrade then the moat expensive maybe 299 looking at prices of 199/299 299/399 399/499. I am up for a partial upgrade soil hoping the 299/399 isn't range

I didn't know there was different "levels" of partial upgrades... DANGIT! lucky. I'm at the 399/499 mark... then again, I bought the 3Gs at launch haven't had it for 5 months and my bill has only been around $60 so I think the partial upgrade is still a favor by AT&T.

Apple isn't going to change their pricing.

Fully Subsidized: 199/299
Partially: 399/499
Full Retail: 599/699

Someone here said you can trade numbers between lines.

If thats the case, then sign up for a new line with the 4G, port your number to the new line, then cancel the old line. You're looking at $200 + $120 ETF = $320. Or you could just buy the partially subsidized iPhone and not deal with any of the hoop'la.

There aren't different levels of partial upgrade. There's one fully subsidized, one partial subsidized and one full price.

Early upgrade is 399+TAX+$18 upgrade fee, does your upgrade status say no commit pricing?

No commit is 599+TAX+$18 upgrade fee.

Cancel and open new line is 199+TAX+120+$36 activation fee.
