Cancel Verizon then trade in under new acct?

My husband is out of his Sprint contract and I currently have about a year left on my Verizon contract with a iPhone 5 (no s or c).

What I'm wondering is -- if we both want iPhone 6 under a shared/family plan -- can I trade in my iPhone 5 to Verizon and get the 200 off if I:

Have my husband set up a new Verizon account, cancel my Verizon account, pay the ETF?
